SCPA is an all volunteer nonprofit public benefit corporation and is not organized for the private gain of any person. It is organized under the California Nonprofit Public Benefit Corporation Law for public purposes. The specific purpose of this corporation is to promote the growth of the percussive arts through competition, performance and educational activities and to encourage goodwill, good sportsmanship and camaraderie through such activities.
Our Handbook: A helpful reference and a must-read for all directors, instructors, and performers.
Each year SCPA awards $4,000 in scholarships to four talented young performers/composers within the SCPA community to help offset some of the expense of pursuing their dreams. Since 2018 SCPA has partnered with the Arcadia Music and Arts Symposium on the Composition Scholarship program to also provide matching music production packages and professional outreach opportunities for scholarship recipients.
Interested participants can view full details at our Composition Scholarship page, and specific category details at the links below.

We know that everyone in our community seeks a return to normalcy as soon as possible. While we’ve all been hopeful that public health prospects would improve to a point that an indoor percussion season in our region would be possible in 2021, the current realities in our region and public health forecasts do not leave us with a path to bring that to fruition.
Due to this, SCPA will not be hosting events during the 2021 indoor percussion season.
In place of a traditional season, SCPA will be offering non-competitive online opportunities to our ensembles and community to showcase what their programs have been working on, whatever that may be.
With varying restrictions and safety protocols in place for different counties, cities, districts, schools, and/or ensembles we know this year will look very different from program to program. We’d like to encourage all participants to stay engaged and for our ensembles to develop virtual and in-person opportunities for their students to rehearse and perform together as local conditions allow. Whatever this looks like for your program, SCPA will be there to help showcase to our community all that you’re working on!
We look forward to keeping our community engaged and connected through this tough, but temporary, time in our activity’s history, and can’t wait until we can all be together again.

The SCPA Summit for 2021 will take place on Sunday, May 31st from 1 to 5 p.m. and will be conducted as a video conference.
Since this year's Summit will be conducted virtually, each attendee will need to register. Only those that register will be sent the video conference link.
Before registering, please determine who will serve as your ensemble's primary representative at the Summit. Primary representatives will be eligible to earn a director badge for the 2021 season provided they RSVP and fully attend the Summit.
Each attendee may represent only one ensemble and each ensemble may have a single primary representative.
Summit registration will close on Saturday, May 30th.

We regret to inform our alliance and community that SCPA Championships have been canceled.
At the direction of the California Department of Public Health and Governor Newsom, SCPA has made the incredibly tough decision to cancel all championships events. With the call to cancel all large gathering events through at least the end of the month, the prudent decision is to cancel the remainder of the season.
Everyone at SCPA is profoundly saddened by this development. We will all collectively mourn losing the conclusion of our 20th anniversary season, and the loss of memories that were yet to be made. At the same time, we know decisions like this are critical at this time for the safety and well-being of not just our participants, but for countless members of our communities as well. SCPA is committed to being part of the effort to flatten the curve and save lives, and we applaud efforts throughout the state to do just that. We all have a role to play.
The indoor percussion activity is a very special one, and the alliance formed by the members of SCPA is one of the most cherished relationships in all of the marching arts. Although our culminating event of 2020 will not take place, we as a community will continue with our mission and vision and return stronger than ever in 2021.
We thank you for your patience and understanding, and we wish all of you the best of health as we collectively navigate this unprecedented situation. Be safe and please take care of one another.

The SCPA events this weekend at Great Oak High School have been canceled.
This afternoon we received communication from the administration at Great Oak High School and the Temecula Valley School District that a series of events across the district are being postponed or canceled, including the cancelation of our percussion events this weekend. There are currently six confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Riverside County, and out of an abundance of caution, mass gathering events are being canceled to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus. As painful as this is for all of us, we appreciate the prioritization of public health in the region and respect the decision.
SCPA will be issuing refunds to all those registered for the events at Great Oak in the coming weeks. We appreciate your patience as we work through the complexities of this cancelation.
At this time, SCPA Championships remain unaffected. There are currently no cases of COVID-19 in San Bernardino County, and as of right now no advisories to cancel or postpone events in the county or at Cal State San Bernardino. Should recommendations change, SCPA will follow all guidelines and recommendations from state and local officials and from our event host at Cal State San Bernardino.
2021 information will be released in early October.
