JJ Pipitone received his Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Morehead State University and his Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas.
JJ is an assistant band director at Grapevine High School in Dallas, Texas, where he has been since 2005. He is responsible for the Music Theory and Music History Classes, the Jazz Band, the musical, and oversees all percussion activities from 6th-12th grade. Prior to this assignment, he was the Director of Percussion at Lewisville High School in Dallas, Texas, where he taught for 9 years.
JJ has extensive drum corp experience, having marched for 10 years in drum corps all over the country including numerous drum corps in the up-state New York area; the Dutch Boy, from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada; the Phantom Regiment from Rockford, Illinois and the Concord Blue Devils from Concord, California.
As an instructor, JJ taught the World Champion Phantom Regiment, the Glassmen was a consultant for the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corp and the Empire Statesmen Sr. Corp.
JJ's extensive judging experience has made him one of the most in demand Music/Percussion judges in the United States. He judges numerous marching band competitions in the fall, indoor drumline competitions in the winter/spring and Drum Corp International in the summer.
